Wauwatosa Window Restoration

Name: Window Tuning & Restoration

Location: Milwaukee – Walker’s Point

Problem:There are 9 original historic windows in the attic that need to be refurbished and restored.

Solution Provided: Our Team started by initially removing the windows and bringing them into our shop to be restored. The windows were then stripped of their current paint.  We then prepared the double hung windows’ sashes, each thoroughly cleaned and receiving a coat of oil based primer. Our team inspected the windows for any damage, including any rotten/deteriorated/fissured wood, stripped screw holes, nail holes or gauges, and applied Abatron Wood Restoration Epoxy.  Once the windows were ready, the team applied 2 coats of premium paint and the windows were then ready to be re-installed. During installation we scraped excess paint from the jambs that inhibited proper function and replaced any damaged window stops. Additionally, for the double hung windows we affixed the top sash fully up into its opening, sealed for airtightness, and made sure the top and bottom sash meeting rails line up and latch fully. The existing hardware was cleaned, and to finish we confirmed the windows opened smoothly and latched properly.
