Name: Exterior Paint & Restoration
Location: Waukesha, WI
Problem: The exterior of home, including siding, trim, eaves, front porch, & garage, needed to have the wood restored and painted.
Solution Provided: We began our project by setting up scaffolds as necessary, set up debris catches and covered landscaping. We place an emphasis on maintaining a tidy job site throughout the duration of the project, and ensure all work to be performed in a lead safe manner.
There were several areas with high build up, peeling, alligatoring or chipping paint, we determined the best thing to do was to strip to near bare wood. On areas where paint is well-adhered we thoroughly scuff sanded elements so that new paint can “tooth” into current paint.
For the damaged wood and damaged window glazing we either repair the wood by using Abatron Wood Restoration Epoxy, and for any wood deemed too far deteriorated to be repaired with epoxy we replace it with pieces of Accoya.
Upon completion of prep and restoration, everything was thoroughly cleaned up of dust and debris. All of the bare wood received one coat of Zinsser smart prime primer followed by a light sanding and any metal will be primed with a rust inhibiting primer. We applied two coats of premium exterior paint with a high quality brush or a paint sprayer. We evaluated all of the caulking, and removed and/or replaced or re-caulked as necessary prior to final coats of paint.
Once finished our crew cleaned up carefully and disposed of all waste. Throughout the duration of the project we had several walkthroughs with the owner and a final assessment upon completion.
