  We own a historic 1926 French Provincial mansion that needed painting and wood restoration. We contacted Thoughtful Craftsman as we heard they specialize in restoring older homes. The project was extensive due to the amount of wood damage, but they beautifully painted and restored all the trim and wooden storm windows. I have never seen paint lines so crisp and precise in even the most hard to reach areas. Now our home has been restored to its former glory. Highly recommend!

  We have had Thoughtful Craftsman restore several windows in our 1925 home and recently had them repair some plaster damage.  They communicate well about the work that they will perform and the work always comes out looking beautifully.  Everyone we've worked with there has been friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Their custom wooden storm windows are the perfect blend of historic accuracy and modern functionality. For years, the windows wouldn't close properly, and we were advised to replace them. Other companies turned us away due to their age and complexity, but Thoughtful Craftsmen took on the challenge and exceeded our expectations. They not only restored the windows to full functionality but also installed new hardware, ensuring they lock securely. Since 1998, the exterior restoration of Milwaukee-area historic and pre-WWII homes has been our passion. We repair and replace siding to bring the house back to its original look, custom match unique crown moldings, repair rotten window sills or squirrel damaged soffits, all with the highest quality materials.

This type of work can be difficult, hard to bid, and a little fussy. Most carpenters only do it when other work is slow (or non-preferably, it is left to the roofers or painters).

But this kind of work is the focus of our hiring and training; this is what we love to do, and we do it with more experience and knowledge than anyone in Milwaukee. Our (invisible by the time we’re done) fingerprints are all over some of Milwaukee’s finest homes.
